6 Huskies, Cougars, storylines to watch this weekend

With the Cougs facing Colorado and the Dawgs on a bye before facing Oregon State, here’s what to look for from each team.

Despite sitting alone atop the Pac-12, the Washington State University Cougars football team finds itself in an unenviable position.

With time running out on the season, the No. 8 Cougs are tantalizingly close to the College Football Playoff, but that glory is likely just far enough out of reach to be heartbreaking. With a weak strength of schedule and the Pac-12’s mediocre reputation working against them, the high-flying Cougs will be forced to hope that higher-ranked teams choke this weekend.

Then again, they have to beat Colorado on Saturday first for any of that to matter.

The No. 25 Washington Huskies will have a much-needed bye week, but the road ahead is filled with as many questions as ever. Could the break be what the Dawgs need to find some consistency again and finish the season out strong?
