Burr-Kirven Keeps Raking In Honors

Is there anything BBK can’t do for Washington Football?

Ben Burr-Kirven has been honored once again by the Pac-12, this time as the Pac-12 Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This award is given out to one player in the Pac-12 in each sport, and it’s a very high honor. It is given to a player who is performing at a high level on the field and in the classroom. Burr-Kirven, who is sporting a 3.69 GPA, is a two-time, first-team Academic All Pac-12 selection. He also joins Jake Eldrenkamp as the second Husky to win the award in the past three seasons

BBK will likely be honored as an All-American this season, and is eight tackles away from making his way into the top 10 for tackles in a single season at Washington. He has already put together an incredible season and is leading the nation in tackles. Burr-Kirven also has two interceptions, four tackles for loss and one sack on the season.

This is just the latest in a long string of honors for Burr-Kirven, who has won Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week twice, and has been honored as a consensus mid-season All-American by multiple different news outlets. We will no doubt see BBK on the All-Pac 12 first-team, and hopefully, this will help boost his draft stock in April.

It can’t be stressed enough about the amazing job Burr-Kirven has done this season. The Huskies have lost some big-time players to the NFL over the last few seasons, including Keishawn Bierria, Azeem Victor and Shaq Thompson. Burr-Kirven could be the next player in that string, and most draft experts have the senior projected as a middle of Round Three pick.
