Cougars surge, Huskies fall in Pac-12 power rankings for week 10

Updated

There’s nothing quite like the utter chaos of college football.

Week nine saw seven ranked teams fall to unranked opponents. Among them were the Washington Huskies (6-3) and the Oregon Ducks (5-3). As a result, the No. 10 Washington State Cougars are in sole possession of the lead in the Pac-12 North, and look like the favorites to win the conference title.

In the South, No. 16 Utah leads the pack while the the rest of the division fights for second place. USC is technically there, but the Utes are better than the rest of the division by a pretty significant margin.

Now, the Cougs and the Utes, two of the smallest market teams in the Power Five, could very well meet in a conference championship game with potential College Football Playoff ramifications. As if that weren’t enough, both teams began the season unranked. By contrast, Washington, Oregon, Stanford and USC all started in the top-25.

So much for all of that preseason hype, huh?
