Seven Pac-12 Football Teams Headed To The Postseason; Conference Champion Washington Rose Bowl Bound

SAN FRANCISCO ––No. 9 WASHINGTON (10-3) returns to the Rose Bowl Game for the first time since the 2000 season after the Huskies defeated UTAH, 10-3, in the Pac-12 Conference Championship Game.

The Huskies, who won their 17th Pac-12 title, earned a spot in the Rose Bowl Game opposite Big Ten Champion No. 6 Ohio State (11-2) on Mon., Jan. 1. This will be the 12th meeting between these two teams, and first since 2007. It also marks the first time the two schools will face each other in the postseason.

No. 13 WASHINGTON STATE (10-2) will make its second appearance in the Valero Alamo Bowl and face No. 24 Iowa State (8-4) of the Big 12 Conference on Fri., Dec. 28. It will be the first meeting between the Cougars and Cyclones.

No. 17 UTAH (9-4) will meet No. 22 Northwestern (8-5) of the Big Ten Conference in the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl on Sun., Dec. 31. This will be the first Holiday Bowl appearance for the Utes and a matchup between Conference runner-ups.

OREGON (8-4) has been selected by the Redbox Bowl to meet Michigan State (7-5) of the Big Ten Conference on Sun., Dec. 31. The Ducks will be making their first appearance in the Bay Area bowl game and the seventh meeting all-time with the Spartans.

The three remaining Pac-12 contracted bowls chose their participants based on order of final Conference standings. The Hyundai Sun Bowl pits STANFORD (8-4) against Pittsburgh (7-6) of the ACC on Sun., Dec. 31. The Las Vegas Bowl will match ARIZONA STATE (7-5) with Mountain West Champion No. 21 Fresno State (11-2) on Sat., Dec. 15. The Cheez-it Bowl slots CALIFORNIA (7-5) against Big 12 opponent TCU (6-6) on Wed., Dec. 26.

In all, the Pac-12 will face three teams from the Big Ten, two teams from the Big 12, one from the ACC and one from the Mountain West Conference. Four of the seven opponents were ranked in the final CFP Top 25.
