Washington Huskies make Andy Katz’s preseason Power 36 rankings

With Pac-12 Media Day Thursday, it’s time to start thinking about Washington Basketball and what the future holds for second-year head coach Mike Hopkins. The Hoop Dawgs are already getting some preseason acclaim, as former ESPN National Basketball Analysis Andy Katz has released his top-36 teams heading into the 2018-19 season.

The Washington Huskies are at No. 18, the first Pac-12 team listed. UCLA is at No. 20 and Oregon is at No. 28.

Washington is playing four non-conference ranked teams too: Gonzaga (3), Auburn (9), Virginia Tech (27), and Minnesota (31).

Here’s what Katz had to say about the Dawgs.

“The Huskies had one of the biggest wins of the season last year by taking out Kansas. Mike Hopkins has the team all in on the zone and he’s got the length and disruption with Matisse Thybulle and Noah Dickerson. I’m not sold the rest of the country is all in on the Huskies just yet.”
