- Washington back in the polls at #20
UW made a jump back into the AP top 25 following their lackluster win over Stanford on Saturday. It is a nice acknowledgment, but the polls really don’t mean a lot to UW at this point. The Dawgs are either going to the Rose Bowl or one of either the Alamo Bowl or the Holiday Bowl. Still, when last week UW fell out of the polls for the first time since 2015 there was a real sense that this team might be cratering. Being back in now at least provides some evidence that the nation hasn’t completely disregarded the potential of this Huskies squad.
Greg Gaines called his interception on Saturday “one of the greatest moments of my life”. It was also the best play of the season made by Washington’s best player of the season.
The Huskies were on the precipice of a season in disaster as Stanford came back from down 21-0 before ultimately succumbing to Washington on Saturday night. Check out Adam Jude’s recap.
- Turnovers and Field Position
Chris Petersen led off his postgame comments with turnovers and field position. That sounds familiar.
- It could always be worse …
Just remember, it’s not only UW that is putting up questionable special teams play. This actually happened in a college football game this past weekend:
UW quarterback commit Dylan Morris saw his offense rack up 575 yards in total offense as Graham-Kapowsin advanced to the 4A State Playoffs. But Morris himself accounted for just 121 yards on 8 of 18 passing.
- College Basketball Predictions
The 2018-2019 season begins in earnest this week. Here are 40 wild predictions from CBS Sports including a zinger involving Arizona not making the NCAA’s.
Washington is one of four teams in the preseason top 25 who did not play in the tournament last season.
- Women’s Soccer closes it out on a sour note
UW’s soccer team dropped their season closer to WSU in a game that punctuated an otherwise disappointing season.
Emerging freshman star Claire Hoffman racked up 21 kills and 2 blocks as head coach Keegan Cook scored his 100th victory in UW Volleyball’s big win over Arizona.
